Meet the Therapist

Amanda Perry PT, DPT, OCS, COMT
Amanda doesn’t have a great story for how she knew she wanted to become a physical therapist. There is no “light-bulb moment.” It’s just what she’s wanted since she was a teenager. She was very fortunate to be able to go into college with that dream in mind and set goals accordingly. She graduated from University of Montevallo with a Bachelor’s of Science in biology in 2009 and UAB’s Doctorate of Physical Therapy program in 2012.
After graduating from physical therapy school, Amanda worked for large corporations where she saw several patients an hour, sometimes upwards of 22-25 patients a day, and hated it the whole time. She always felt like there had to be a better way, both for therapists and the patients!
While working for these large corporations, she was able to focus heavily on continuing education and furthering her knowledge to be the best therapist possible. She was able to sit and pass her two specialty certifications, Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT, 2014) and Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS, 2016). She is in the process of recertifying for the OCS currently.
In 2019 upon returning to Huntsville, Amanda started dipping her toes into the pelvic health arena. Turns out, she really loved it! She continued to treat orthopedic patients as well, developing a love for fitness and barbell athletes as well as runners, but really fostered a love for the active pelvic health population. As an adult athlete with a history of pelvic floor issues, Amanda has a deep understanding of the importance of having a healthy pelvic floor and the frustration when things aren’t working the way they are supposed to!
In addition to treating patients, Amanda has a love for educating other therapists! She is a lab assistant for UAB PT students in their orthopedic labs and a teaching assistant for Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute in the Pelvic Function Series of courses. She continues to take as many continuing education courses as time allows.
